Writing
Jeremy is available for freelance writing in a range of media and formats. He is actively pursuing creative fiction and non-fiction opportunities. His specialty subjects include media and pop-culture, contemporary politics, and queer issues – sometimes all three at the same time.
You can find Jeremy’s freelance work in publications such as the Toronto Star (where he started working at the tender age of 10), Notes From Below and A Sticky Situation, an educational comic published through COPA.
Editing and Critique
Jeremy has years of experience as a freelance editor, specializing in developmental and story edits for prose fiction, comics, film and TV. He has worked as a slush reader for New Real Films and Triptych Media, and edited many short form and long-form personal projects. Since 2016, he also is a producer and co-host of Page of the Wind, a media and pop-culture podcast focusing on fantasy literature.
Jeremy brings a keen eye for story structure, character development, pacing, and action to any developmental editing project. He also has a well-developed sense for sentence structure, grammar, and syntax, ensuring the clarity and effectiveness of any prose project.
Instructional Design
Jeremy has worked as an instructional designer, both as a freelancer, and as an in-house instructional designer for LCI Business Solutions. Jeremy specializes in needs analysis, curriculum design and high-level planning, and detailed script development for multimedia e-learning projects.
Jeremy’s clients have included all kinds of organizations, encompassing a spectrum from pharmaceutical companies to soft drink manufacturers, international non-profits to public sector organizations, institutions of higher learning to scrappy small businesses, and much more.
While he’s open to all kinds of instructional design challenges, Jeremy specializes in applying his creative writing chops in the service of informed learning design, using branching scenarios, engaging narratives, and gamification techniques to ensure that the learner is emotionally engaged and retains what they learn.
